Park Slope this week: Brad Lander wins the NY-10 primary, a new 4th Avenue coffee shop, and free Shakespeare in the park

The primary's settled: Brad Lander, the former city comptroller and a longtime Park Sloper, won the Democratic nomination for Congress in NY-10 on Tuesday by nearly two to one, unseating Dan Goldman. In a district this blue, June usually decides it.

The rest of the week is summer doing its thing. A new coffee shop opened on 4th Avenue, a pasta spot is turning its checks into a student-art project, and the weekend brings free Shakespeare on the Peninsula, a Caribbean family day at the Boathouse, and a Pride skate night at Lakeside. Here's the week.

03 · One vetted pick

Best for owner-operated brownstone inspections · NYS license active to 2028 · from our home-inspectors guide

Egan & Co. Inspections

An owner-operator who knows brownstones: Michael Egan quotes the job, shows up, and writes the report himself, no junior handed your $1.5M decision. He holds an active NYS home inspector license (#16000054466) and does pre-purchase work for buyers and sellers. Skip him if you want a big firm with backup crews and same-day scheduling.

Summer is closing season in Park Slope, so this week's pick is from our home-inspectors guide. Every inspector on it holds an active NYS license we confirmed, and nobody paid to be there.
