Park Slope this week: Arrow Linen's affordable share falls to 25%, a 52-unit rental in foreclosure, and Common at the bandshell
Prospect Avenue had a week. At 467, the old Arrow Linen site, the plan grew from 250 apartments to 396 while the affordable count stayed put at 100, which is how a 40 percent set-aside becomes 25. At 287, a 52-unit rental went into foreclosure over $6.9 million.
Then there's the rain. Central Park logged 8.04 inches through August 23, the wettest August in five years and more than three times what fell in all of August 2025. That is the weather that finds a tired flat roof, so this week's pick is a roofer.

Arrow Linen's new plan is 396 apartments, and the affordable share drops to 25%
Park Slope Walk reports the 467 Prospect Avenue site changed hands from Apex to Goose Property Management, and the plan grew with it. Apex was approved for 250 units with 100 of them affordable, a 40 percent set-aside at 60 percent of area median income. The new plan is 396 units across four buildings. The affordable count stays at 100, which is where 40 percent turns into 25.

A 52-unit rental at 287 Prospect Avenue is in foreclosure
The lender filed in Kings County Supreme Court on August 20, claiming $6.9 million in principal, interest, late charges and fees on a $9 million mortgage. The borrower is tied to the Scarpinito family's 287 Associates. It is the second run at the building: a 2024 case followed eight missed payments and ended when the owner paid $447,000. No response filed yet.

The wettest August in five years, and there's more coming
Central Park had logged 8.04 inches through August 23, about 4.58 inches above normal for the date, on preliminary National Weather Service numbers. All of August 2025 produced 2.21 inches. Twelve days this month brought measurable rain, four of them a half inch or more.

Jen Lewin's The Ursas went in on August 1 at Gowanus Wharf, in front of Nevins Landing. Ursa Minor is 13 feet of infinity mirrors and programmable LEDs. Ursa Major is 26 feet, built from reclaimed ocean plastic, and you can step inside the mirrored interior. Free, outdoors, no ticket. It's Gowanus rather than Park Slope, and it's labelled that way on purpose.

The pick for the leak nobody else could trace. A Park Slope Parents reviewer hired Kamco for flat-roof maintenance done to an inspector's spec and said they solved a problem no one else could fix.
