Park Slope this week: Super Stoop's makeup Saturday, Atlantic Antic on Sunday, and a Lenape pow wow at Lakeside

The nor'easter pushed last weekend's plans back a week, so this one is big. Super Stoop runs Saturday, Atlantic Antic takes over Atlantic Avenue on Sunday, and Lenape nations hold a two-day pow wow at Lakeside. And heating season starts today, so this week's pick is the plumber you call when the radiator stays cold at night.

  • The storm moved Atlantic Antic to this Sunday

Brooklyn's biggest street fair was set for last Sunday until the nor'easter. The city granted a postponement, and it now runs Sunday, October 4, from noon to 6pm, on Atlantic Avenue from Fourth Avenue to the waterfront. The Fourth Avenue end is a short walk down from the North Slope. The same storm moved Bay Ridge's Ragamuffin Parade to Saturday at 1pm.

  • Getting into the Food Coop is now a lottery

Orientation slots used to drop at set times (midnight, 7am or 7pm) and vanish in under 20 seconds, and staff saw people using automated tools to grab them. Since early August, prospective members pick from posted dates, the Coop draws at random, and winners get an email with a deadline to confirm. General Coordinator Matt Hoagland said slots were disappearing so fast that some people waited up and never saw one. The Coop's own line: demand to join exceeds its capacity to welcome everyone.

  • The Coop's numbers, and a podcast

The report from the August general meeting: sales of $29.59 million over the first 24 weeks of the fiscal year, up 0.5%, and net income of about $352,000 against a $141,000 loss a year earlier. Staff get one-time bonuses of $800 to $1,000. Legal fees are up. Members approved a Coop podcast, 69% in favor, with a $300 annual budget, and a proposal on elections was put off to a later meeting.

Super Stoop Day, this Saturday for real

The Park Slope Civic Council's neighborhood-wide stoop sale, moved from September 26 by the storm. Households, schools and businesses sell or give things away from their stoops, and registered ones go on a map so you can plan a route. Civic Council president Donna Stein said most of the 500 participating locations expected to take part on the makeup day. Maps and updates are on the Civic Council's site.

03 · One vetted pick

Best for 24/7 emergencies · DOB master plumber #1301 active · from our plumbers guide

Petri Plumbing, Heating & Drain

The pick for the call you make at 2am. Four generations of Brooklyn plumbers, with a location on Butler Street and headquarters in Bay Ridge, and true 24/7 dispatch with same-day windows. Its city permit record includes boiler work close to home, among them two new gas-fired boilers in a cellar on 8th Avenue last October. It handles its own permit pulls, which matters when an emergency turns into a bigger job. NYC Master Plumber license #1301, held by Michael Petri, active in DOB permit records in 2026. Skip it if you are cost-sensitive and the job can wait: emergency rates are emergency rates, and the guide points to John Hlad for routine work.

NYC heating season starts today and runs through May 31. Landlords have to keep apartments at 62 or warmer overnight, and at 68 during the day whenever it is below 55 outside. Renters with no heat call the landlord, then 311. If you own the building, that boiler is your problem. This week's pick comes from our plumbers guide, because in New York the boiler is a plumber's job. Every plumber on it holds a NYC Master Plumber license we confirmed active in city permit records. Nobody paid to be there.
