Saturday is also the last day to register to vote, and the deadline for the Board of Elections to receive an absentee or early mail ballot application by mail or online. Your early voting site can be different from your Election Day poll site, so look yours up before you go.

  • Sesilya, a Georgian bakery and restaurant, opens on Fifth Avenue

David Kitiashvili, who came to New York from Tbilisi more than 20 years ago, opened the bakery today at 254 Fifth Avenue, at Carroll Street, in the former Negril BK space. The restaurant follows later, with traditional family recipes and Georgian wines. "Our grandmothers have always held a special place in our lives," he told Park Slope Pulse.

  • The rooftop honey a few doors from the Coop

Jonathan Derow has kept bees on his roof near the Park Slope Food Coop since 2011, months after beekeeping became legal in the city. He harvests twice a year, and his Union Street Honey is sold at the Coop (when it's in stock), Sahadi's and Brooklyn Larder. The fall batch usually sells out by December. "Honey tastes of the place," he told the Linewaiters' Gazette.

03 · One vetted pick

Best established family firm for full replacements · NYC HIC #0674782 active · from our roofers guide

Premier Roofing

The pick when you want a long-running family firm that picks up the phone and does the bigger jobs: full flat-roof replacement, leak detection, skylights, roof hatches and waterproofing. Nine Park Slope Parents reviews back it, one calling the owner, Anthony, "a great guy and total straight shooter." It's based at 905 Atlantic Avenue in Clinton Hill, a short hop from the Slope. Skip it if you need a pitched slate or tile roof: Premier is a flat-roofing specialist.

Get the roof looked at before the first winter storm finds the leak for you. This pick comes from our roofers guide, where every firm holds a NYC Home Improvement Contractor license we confirmed active in city records. Nobody paid to be there.
