Park Slope this week: the Halloween parade Saturday, early voting ends Sunday, and the marathon on Fourth Avenue
A big few days. The Children's Halloween Parade lines up Saturday on Seventh Avenue, early voting ends Sunday, and the marathon runs up Fourth Avenue the same morning. Tuesday is Election Day and a school holiday, so we've added a few things to do with the kids, too.

The Children's Halloween Parade is Saturday
The Park Slope Civic Council's parade lines up Saturday, October 31, at 6pm at Seventh Avenue and 14th Street and steps off at 6:30. Park Slope Open Streets has Halloween programming the same day, including Big Easy Imaginarium's Silly Spooky Halloween and live music. We keep the route and every Halloween event on the calendar in one place.

Early voting ends Sunday; Election Day is Tuesday
Early voting runs through Sunday, November 1. On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, polls are open 6am to 9pm. Park Slope voters choose a governor, attorney general and comptroller, plus a House seat (District 9 or 10, depending on your address) and State Assembly District 44 or 52. Your early voting site can differ from your Election Day poll site, so look yours up first.

Merci Milo, a toy shop for toys you keep, opens on Sackett Street
Caroline Rodrigues opened Merci Milo at 704 Sackett Street on Saturday. She picks toys for quality and durability, meant to be kept and handed down, and plans book readings and puppet shows in the shop. "I don't want to just be some store selling toys in the neighborhood," she told Park Slope Pulse.

Best for tuck-pointing and stoop renovation · NYC HIC #2097623 active · from our brownstone restoration guide
The everyday-masonry pick for a worn stoop and tired mortar joints. Its own site covers brownstone facade repair, stoop renovation, pointing and stucco, and describes tuck-pointing as restoring a historic building's mortar joints with traditional methods and materials. It has more than a decade in business and a clean city complaint record. Skip it for a formal landmark filing on a designated facade: confirm its Landmarks experience first.
Before winter, it's worth a look at the stoop and the mortar joints. This pick comes from our brownstone restoration guide, where every firm holds a NYC Home Improvement Contractor license we confirmed active in city records. Nobody paid to be there.
